Climate Resilient WASH Development Programme
The Climate Resilient WASH Development Program is a four-year project that started in 2020, funded by NORAD through Norwegian Church Aid (NCA) Somalia with the goal of improving the lives and health of Somali populations through development and management of sustainable water, sanitation and hygiene services. Climate resilient WASH generally refers to WASH services and behaviors that continue to deliver benefits, or that are appropriately restored, within a changing climate context and despite climate induced hazards. Robust, sustainable WASH systems can improve resilience to climate change. The main objective of the project is to increase access to sustainable potable water, increase sanitation coverage and improved hygiene knowledge of the target IDP communities. Baniadam’s role in the project is to work with beneficiaries in establishing sustainable water supply systems, promote uptake of appropriate low-cost sanitation products and services and provide appropriate sanitation facilities that are user friendly and sensitive to the gender needs of the target beneficiaries. Conduct community-based hygiene promotion activities through existing community structures and programs. Baniadam works closely with relevant line ministries and local authorities to deliver services that are aligned the Federal Government policies and strategic guidelines. Baniadam works closely with institutions like schools and MCHs to support development of WASH infrastructure in order to enhance their WASH services delivery and maintenance of WASH infrastructure.
